Piri Reis Üniversitesi

Piri Reis University was established in 2008 by the Turkish Maritime Education Foundation (TUDEV), renowned for its long history in training sailors and professionals and participating in European Union projects since 1993 to apply international standards within the Turkish maritime shipping sector. Piri Reis University is considered one of the best universities in Turkey and is supported by the Turkish Chamber of Shipping as the first maritime university in Turkey. It is also officially registered with the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).

The university aims to be a leading institution that contributes to developing national and international projects and implements modern educational programs. It also strives to educate young people with professional skills, communication, creativity, leadership, and social responsibility, ideally trained to work worldwide.

Piri Reis Faculties

Piri Reis University includes five faculties:

  • Faculty of Maritime
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Arts and Sciences
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences

In addition to the Naval Professional School and an academically equipped institute for postgraduate programs, there is an English language school that offers a preparatory year for language before starting specialization studies at the university.

The first maritime university in Turkey

Piri Reis University has gained recognition both locally and internationally as the first university to offer maritime specializations in Turkey. It is the only university specializing in maritime sciences, technology, and engineering. The university is an active member of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and the Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutions (BSAMI).

Piri Reis University offers diverse maritime specializations through its Maritime Faculty, including Marine Engineering, Maritime Transportation Management Engineering, and Ship Machinery Management Engineering. The Maritime Faculty adheres to the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The university aims to prepare specialized and fully qualified graduates to demonstrate competence and excellence in both the local and global job markets.

Student life at Piri Reise University

Piri Reis University is dedicated to providing an active student life filled with various student activities through diverse student clubs. These include: Drama Club, Dance Club, Business Management and Entrepreneurship Club, Ships and Maritime Technology Club, Sailing Club, and Logistics Services Club. Additionally, the university offers:
