What is meant by Turkish free scholarships?
Turkish free scholarships are grants provided by the Turkish government to foreign students from around the world. They are among the most renowned scholarship programs globally, given their inclusivity across almost all disciplines and academic levels, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The Turkish government offers a minimum of 4000 scholarships annually.
On the other hand, Turkish universities are considered among the best globally. Many Turkish universities have achieved distinguished global academic rankings, with several being ranked among the top 500 universities in the world. Therefore, many students worldwide prefer to study at Turkish universities.


The Turkish scholarship programs provide the following benefits to students:
- Residence in dedicated student housing, free of charge. Students who prefer not to stay in university housing can choose an alternative at their own expense. These residential facilities offer all the necessary services for students, including daily meals.
- Government health insurance, enabling students to receive free medical treatment in government hospitals and reduced fees in some private hospitals.
- Full-year Turkish language study.
- Round-trip airfare to enter and exit Turkey after completing the studies.
- Enjoying the benefits of a student residence permit, discounted transportation card, and free museum and historical sites visitation card.
- Scholarship recipients are exempt from paying tuition fees
In addition, there is a monthly stipend allocated for students
- Bachelor's degree

- Doctorate
Conditions for applying and registering in the Turkish Scholarship Program for the undergraduate level:
- The applicant must not exceed 21 years of age.
- The applicant should not be enrolled in a Turkish university in the same academic level he/she is applying for.
- The GPA should not be less than 70% for all majors and 90% for medical group majors (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy).
- The applicant must have graduated or be on the verge of graduation from high school (Baccalaureate). Therefore, you can apply with a document from the school where you study high school, proving that your GPA in the second year of high school is not less than 70%, and that you are registered in the third stage of high school. Consequently, you can apply until the issuance of the high school diploma.
The required documents for students wishing to enroll in the undergraduate stage of the Turkish Free Scholarship Program are:
- Valid passport copy
- Transcript or grade sheet copy High school diploma copy
- Clear photograph with a white or blue background
- Latest semester grade report for students who have not yet graduated from high school
Important Notes:
- Some certificates are issued from multiple countries, and it is acceptable to submit a single document combining the high school diploma and the grade sheet.
- Please send scanned images of the documents using a scanner.
Requirements for students wishing to apply for a Master’s degree:
- The applicant’s age should not exceed 30 years.
- The undergraduate GPA should not be less than 75%.
The required documents for Master’s (Masters) students applying for Turkish scholarship programs are:
- Copy of the Bachelor’s degree with the grade sheet.
- Copy of the high school diploma with the grade sheet.
- Report or two written in English, explaining why the student chose Turkey (this document is also called a motivation letter and is created for students enrolled in Turkish scholarship programs through the Okay Tamam group).
- Valid passport copy.
- Photograph with a white or blue background.
- Recommendation letter: It is preferable for this letter to be issued by professors from the university where the student graduated. If any obstacles arise in obtaining this letter from the university, the student can obtain it from their workplace in case of employment. The student must include complete personal information such as their position, the organization they work for, phone number, and email address in this letter.
Important notes:
- Students who have not graduated yet and are on the verge of graduating from the undergraduate level must provide the grade report for the latest semester studied at the university.
- It is recommended to send all documents scanned using a scanner to ensure clarity of the student’s information in all submitted academic documents.
The conditions that students interested in applying for Turkish scholarship programs for a Ph.D. degree must meet are:
- The applicant’s age should not exceed 35 years for the Ph.D. level.
- The Ph.D. applicant’s GPA should not be less than 75%.
The required documents for Ph.D. students applying to Turkish scholarship programs are:
- High school certificate with the grade sheet.
- Bachelor’s degree certificate with the grade sheet.
- Master’s degree certificate with the grade sheet.
- Excerpts from the Master’s thesis.
- Two recommendation letters: It is preferable for these letters to be issued by professors from the university where the student graduated. If any obstacles arise in obtaining these letters from the university, the student can obtain them from their workplace in case of employment. It is essential for the student to include complete personal information, such as their position, the organization they work for, phone number, and email address, in these letters.

Important Notes for Students Wishing to Register:
No one can guarantee your acceptance for scholarships, whether Turkish or international programs, regardless of their proximity to committees reviewing and examining applications for government or private scholarships. The evaluation committees do not disclose any information about their members until the announcement of the results. The evaluation process for registered applications goes through the following stages:
- The first stage lasts between four to six months, starting in February (the second month), during which academic performance is assessed, and the applications of applicants are evaluated in general.
- The program management contacts initially accepted students starting from March (the third month) until June (the sixth month) to schedule personal interview dates.
- The official announcement of results is made between July (the seventh month) and August (the eighth month) of each Gregorian year.
- Classes commence in September (the ninth month) of each Gregorian year
