About Marmara University

Marmara University was officially established in 1982, though its roots date back to 1883. It is one of the most renowned and largest public universities in Turkey, located on the Asian side of Istanbul. The university is accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education, and the YÖS exam is required for admission.

Marmara University is the second largest university in Turkey, with approximately 60,000 students and 2,839 employees. It includes 13 faculties, 9 vocational institutes, and 31 research centers. The university also has 11 postgraduate institutes offering a total of 136 undergraduate programs and at least 45 master’s specializations and 14 doctoral specializations.

Marmara University is unique in Turkey as it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in four languages: Turkish, French, English, and German.

Notable alumni of the university include the current President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
