About Anadolu University
Establishment: Founded in 1958
Anadolu University was established in the city of Eskişehir as an educational academy, initially named the “Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences.” Due to the increasing demand for higher education in the 1970s and 1980s, the Turkish government converted the Eskişehir Academy into Anadolu University in 1982.
Despite its relatively short history, the university has become one of Turkey’s most important, modern, and dynamic universities. As a result, Eskişehir has been dubbed the “City of Youth and Academic Culture” as the university attracts large numbers of students seeking high-quality educational services.
Anadolu University boasts numerous outstanding academic facilities that aid students in successfully completing their studies, such as large libraries, various scientific laboratories, 17 academic faculties, and more than 50 educational departments.
Open Education Faculty
Anadolu University is among the few Turkish universities that offer open education or distance learning. The Open Education Faculty includes several departments such as Home Management, Social Sciences, Local Governance and Municipalities, International Trade, Banking and Insurance, Health Institution Management, Theological Sciences, General Agricultural Sciences, Information Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, Management of Movable and Immovable Properties, Culture and Civilizational Heritage Management, Physical Education, Geographic Systems Management, Pharmaceutical Services, Food Quality Analysis and Management, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Turkish Language and Literature, and History.
