Majors Engineering Management

The Bachelor of Engineering Management emerged in the early 19th century in the United States, and soon, various countries began to develop academic programs for it. Turkey was among the first to establish programs at all academic levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD) specializing in engineering management. With industrial expansion and the increase in facilities, factories, and engineering offices, there grew a need for a specialization whose graduates could manage these facilities with an educational background in engineering. This field combines the managerial aspect with extensive knowledge of engineering domains to contribute to the management of engineering projects and provide solutions to administrative problems faced in the engineering business world.

Typically, engineering management programs aim to prepare students to be innovative researchers and responsible for providing informational and administrative support to engineers across various engineering sectors, both locally and internationally. Those in this field are tasked with numerous responsibilities, including evaluating the efficiency of systems in place, using all available data, and innovating solutions to problems that may arise during project implementation. Engineering project managers play a significant role in developing the industrial and business sectors to ensure project success at a reasonable cost.

Importance of Engineering Management

The importance of the engineering management specialization lies in its ability to develop students’ skills and enhance their capacity to understand, develop, and design administrative systems that align with engineering facilities, whether they are industrial, architectural, or civil. Graduates of engineering management provide community awareness about practical problem-solving solutions in both the public and private engineering sectors. The foundation of any successful engineering project is proper management in terms of resource management, project cost, and monitoring the steps of engineering project implementation while ensuring the availability of all necessary modern machines and technologies.
