Admission Test

What is the GMAT?

The GMAT is an international standardized test in English designed to qualify students for postgraduate studies, including Master’s and Doctoral degrees.

This exam is administered by the Educational Testing Service via computer, as is common with many international tests. It is held in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, with an entry fee of $225.

Sections of the Exam:

Quantitative

  • This section includes two parts: Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving.
  • The duration of this section is 75 minutes, and the student must answer at least 37 questions.

Verbal

  • This section includes three parts: Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension.
  • The duration of this section is 75 minutes, and the student must answer at least 41 questions.

analytical writing

    • This section is designed to measure your writing skills and lasts 30 minutes.

Overview of the Exam:

  • Questions are selected automatically and displayed on the computer screen one at a time. Each question has only one correct answer and once answered, cannot be changed.
  • The difficulty of the questions adjusts based on the correctness of the student’s responses, ranging from very difficult to very easy, to assess the student’s level.
  • If a student answers incorrectly, the computer selects a slightly easier subsequent question.

Minimum Scores:

  • The lowest score possible is 200, and the highest is 800. Turkish universities typically require a score of around 600 or above.

Note: The validity of the GMAT score is five years.

Important Tips for the Exam:

  1. Give sufficient time to the first question and try to answer it correctly, as it determines the difficulty level of the next question.
  2. Never leave a question unanswered. Always make your best guess because unanswered questions result in a greater deduction of points compared to incorrect answers.
  3. Use the allotted time efficiently and do not rush to finish early as you cannot go back to review your answers.
